April is Child Abuse Prevention Month

Since 2002, The Kansas City Child Abuse Roundtable Coalition, a group of advocates and elected officials, has joined together to promote awareness of child abuse and the prevention, training and treatment services available in the greater Kansas City metropolitan area. Over 30 community agencies have brought needed attention to this important issue through cooperation and educational opportunities for adults and children. In 2006, the group expanded to become a bi-state effort.

What Can You Do?

Wear Blue Day
On April 17, 2009, all Kansas Citians are being asked to band together and wear blue as a visible commitment to support child abuse prevention. Sign up today with your friends, neighbors and co-workers and pledge to make a difference by wearing blue on this special day. Order a Go Blue T-Shirt, or download a flyer to post and share now!

The organizations to the right represent more than 13,881 individuals who have pledged to wear blue on April 17th. Click here to join them!

Host a Community Event
The Roundtable Coalition has once again produced a community-wide calendar of events for Child Abuse Prevention Month. Click here to view the calendar that was published in The Kansas City Star on Wednesday, April 1, 2009.

Spread the Word

Keep kids safe by knowing the signs, what to do and who to contact. You can download the 2009 Child Abuse Prevention Month flyer, poster and table tent to help you share this important information within your community. Click Here for Recent Child Abuse Prevention Month Facts and Figures.

Show Your Support

The Children's Place would like to offer you the opportunity to purchase a Blue Ribbon Lapel Pin and/or a Blue "No Excuse for Child Abuse" Bracelet to help show your support in the fight against child abuse and neglect.
